About GS

If you are interested in joining Good Samaritans, please fill out our online application. However, before you apply, please take the time to read what Good Samaritans are all about.

We, the members of GS, believe faith without deeds is nothing. Likewise, deeds without faith are nothing. We believe in the One God, Father Almighty, creator of all things. We believe He sent His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for our sins. We believe Jesus conquered death by rising on the third day. We believe He ascended into Heaven and sits at the right hand of The Father. We believe in the Holy Trinity, one God eternally existing in three persons, God The Father, God The Son, and God the Holy Spirit. We believe it is essential to stop and help someone along our journey in life and not expect to be repaid. We believe all people are created equal in God’s eyes. We believe all people are deserving of God’s Love, no matter what, and it is our duty to show everyone, by the best example we can, God’s Perfect Love. To us, where you are in your walk with Christ is of no consequence. We all journey the same path and all need help along the way.

Who are Samaritans and What Makes Them Good?

The Bible tells us in John, Chapter 4 verses 1 through 42, something about who the Samaritans were in Jesus’ day. Jews did not associate with Samaritans because of some basic differences, one of which was where to worship God. Both peoples believed in the same God. Both peoples laid claim to the same heritage. But Samaritans worshiped God on the mountain while the Jews insisted they must worship God in the Temple. Both had their reasons, but Jesus showed that the time had come to worship God in a different way. The Samaritans came, listened to Jesus and believed Him to be The Messiah, The Christ, The Savior of the world.

John 4 – Jesus Talks With a Samaritan Woman

1 The Pharisees heard that Jesus was gaining and baptizing more disciples than John, 2 although in fact it was not Jesus who baptized, but his disciples. 3 When the Lord learned of this, he left Judea and went back once more to Galilee.

4 Now he had to go through Samaria. 5 So he came to a town in Samaria called Sychar, near the plot of ground Jacob had given to his son Joseph. 6Jacob’s well was there, and Jesus, tired as he was from the journey, sat down by the well. It was about the sixth hour.

7 When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, “Will you give me a drink?” 8 (His disciples had gone into the town to buy food.)

9 The Samaritan woman said to him, “You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan woman. How can you ask me for a drink?” (For Jews do not associate with Samaritans)

10 Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.”

11 “Sir,” the woman said, “you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water? 12Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did also his sons and his flocks and herds?”

13 Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, 14but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”

15 The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water so that I won’t get thirsty and have to keep coming here to draw water.”

16 He told her, “Go, call your husband and come back.”

17 “I have no husband,” she replied.

Jesus said to her, “You are right when you say you have no husband. 18 The fact is, you have had five husbands, and the man you now have is not your husband. What you have just said is quite true.”

19 “Sir,” the woman said, “I can see that you are a prophet. 20 Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, but you Jews claim that the place where we must worship is in Jerusalem.”

21 Jesus declared, “Believe me, woman, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. 22 You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. 23 Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. 24 God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth.”

25 The woman said, “I know that Messiah” (called Christ) “is coming. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.”

26 Then Jesus declared, “I who speak to you am he.

The Disciples Rejoin Jesus

27 Just then his disciples returned and were surprised to find him talking with a woman. But no one asked, “What do you want?” or “Why are you talking with her?”

28 Then, leaving her water jar, the woman went back to the town and said to the people, 29 “Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Christ?” 30 They came out of the town and made their way toward him.

31 Meanwhile his disciples urged him, “Rabbi, eat something.”

32 But he said to them, “I have food to eat that you know nothing about.”

33 Then his disciples said to each other, “Could someone have brought him food?”

34 “My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work. 35 Do you not say, ‘Four months more and then the harvest’? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest. 36 Even now the reaper draws his wages, even now he harvests the crop for eternal life, so that the sower and the reaper may be glad together. 37 Thus the saying ‘One sows and another reaps’ is true. 38I sent you to reap what you have not worked for. Others have done the hard work, and you have reaped the benefits of their labor.

Many Samaritans Believe

39 Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman’s testimony, “He told me everything I ever did.” 40 So when the Samaritans came to him, they urged him to stay with them, and he stayed two days. 41 And because of his words many more became believers.

42 They said to the woman, “We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man really is the Savior of the world.

Okay, now we know who the Samaritans are and how Jesus saved them….but what makes them good?

The Parable of the Good Samaritan …Luke 10:25-37

25 On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. “Teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?”

26 “What is written in the Law?” he replied. “How do you read it?”

27 He answered: ” ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’ and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.'[d]”

28 “You have answered correctly,” Jesus replied. “Do this and you will live.”

29 But he wanted to justify himself, so he asked Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?”

30 In reply Jesus said: “A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, when he fell into the hands of robbers. They stripped him of his clothes, beat him and went away, leaving him half dead. 31 A priest happened to be going down the same road, and when he saw the man, he passed by on the other side. 32 So too, a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side. 33 But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. 34 He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, took him to an inn and took care of him. 35 The next day he took out two silver coins[e] and gave them to the innkeeper. ‘Look after him,’ he said, ‘and when I return, I will reimburse you for any extra expense you may have.’

36 “Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the hands of robbers?”

37 The expert in the law replied, “The one who had mercy on him.” Jesus told him, “Go and do likewise.

Do I have to be Christian to join GS?

No. GS is a Christian (that is followers of Jesus Christ) based community outreach. If you know Jesus and have a personal relationship with Him and have a servant’s heart, that would be a great start towards full membership. We are totally non-denominational and all who believe are welcome to apply. If you are not a believer in Jesus but agree with the rest of our core belief structure, you can become a social member. Perhaps you are a new believer and desire to fellowship with like-minded, not exact-minded, people. Maybe you want to know Jesus and the peace only He can bring you in life. GS may be the place for you. We do not believe it serves our fellow man to stuff religion down anyone’s throat. We believe that anyone who is hungry for The Word or is injured in spirit must be fed and bandaged before they can continue on their journey. It is our duty to feed, bandage and care for those we find along the road. In our eyes, just as Jesus instructed us, everyone is our brother or sister.

What is the difference between social and service members? All service members are Christian (followers of Jesus Christ) and hold true the doctrine of helping others along our journey. They wear the tag GS=name. Social members may not be believers in Jesus as the Christ but still hold true the doctrine of helping others. Social members wear the tag GS-name. All Good Samaritans worship the same God, submit themselves to His Will and have a servant’s heart.

Will we have challenges? You bet! There are many groups and organizations in the community of internet gamers that enjoy friendly competition. Our ultimate goal, after loving God, others and self in that order, is to bring God’s light everywhere so that all may find their way, through any storm, without injury. The internet is a great, ripened field. We are called to the harvest.
